About the Book

Ghostlines is the third novel in The Shards series and the reunion book for Cera and Zora. After a time jump, Zora is an adult living among a secluded Vahr'Na acolyte community on a distant world, while Cera has spent years searching for her and quietly changing because of her exposure to the shard engine.

The Story

Cera finally finds Zora on a humid world where architecture grows as much as it is built. The frightened child she once protected has become a leader who understands her Sorai and no longer accepts being treated as someone else's responsibility. Their reunion is interrupted when Zora's location leaks and the Blackline Syndicate, Viridian's remnants, and the Elyssai converge on the Vahr'Na sanctuary. As the Ghostline becomes more coherent and begins revealing what it wants from Zora, her power pushes toward a dangerous Sorai Collapse that could destroy the sanctuary and everyone inside it.

More of the Story

Ghostlines deepens Sorai as an emotional, will-driven life force rather than a mechanical superpower. It also brings the mother-daughter conflict into a new stage: Cera must accept the adult Zora has become, while Zora must decide whether hiding has protected her or merely delayed the fight. The mirrored voice, the Vahr'Na sanctuary, and the Elyssai belief that Shardborn echo the universe's first sound expand the series beyond Carth.

Behind the Story

I wanted to write the moment when protection must become respect. Ghostlines lets Zora stand fully in her own power while forcing Cera to face the limits of what a parent can control. It also gave me room to explore memory, consciousness, exile, and the strange voices that survive inside systems built to erase them.

Book Summary

Ghostlines reunites Cera and Zora on a world that cannot remain hidden. Their enemies have found them, the sanctuary is compromised, and Zora must decide whether to disappear again or step fully into the war her mother never stopped fighting.
