The Long Night

The Long Night is the fifth novel in The Shards series. Returning to the present-day storyline, it follows adult Zora at full power and Cera as their struggle moves from Persephone to Vahr Prime, the Vahr'Na homeworld, where the fate of two universes becomes a single impossible choice.

A battle is coming, and Zora is the key that links the Shard-verse to Cera's original Earth. Cera has learned to bend time and space between the two worlds, but that ability now threatens to tear them both apart. To prevent disaster, Cera and Zora must choose between sacrificing one universe to preserve the other or severing Cera's path home forever. A Drathin warrior who owes Cera a debt and a Vahr'Na priestess join them as allies, but no army can remove the personal cost of the choice waiting at the centre of the conflict.

Set across Persephone, Vaeldrin, and the rainforest and dust-storm extremes of Vahr Prime, the novel brings Cera and Zora into their most equal and mythic partnership. Prophecy gives way to concrete consequence. The question is no longer whether a sacrifice is coming, but exactly who will make it, which world will pay, and whether home is a place, a time, or the person standing beside you.

The Long Night places two universes on opposite sides of one impossible decision. Cera and Zora can still save a world, but first they must decide what home means and what they are willing to lose forever.
